The controls are smooth and have no delay, but the actions you can do are limited. You can't run, which makes it difficult to put distance between you and your enemies when you need to take a break. You also can't dodge their attacks by rolling or stepping out of the way either. Walking away, jumping, and shielding yourself with your arms are the only ways you can defend yourself.
